Phil Robertson of 'Duck Dinasty' Dies at 79 After Alzheimer’s Battle

Phil Robertson, who starred in Duck Dynasty, died at age 79. His family confirmed his death on May 25. Earlier, in December 2024, they had revealed that he was diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease.

The family first spoke publicly about his condition on the Unashamed podcast. During the episode, his son Jase Robertson explained that Phil’s health had declined rapidly. In addition to Alzheimer’s, Phil also experienced back pain, a blood disorder, and symptoms of mini-strokes.

Following the announcement, Korie Robertson, his daughter-in-law, said: “We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord. … the Good News of Jesus.”

Meanwhile, Jase Robertson posted: “My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed but we know he is in good hands … We will see him again!”

Additionally, his granddaughter Sadie Huff shared: “One of the last things he said to me was ‘full strength ahead!’ Amen!”

Throughout his life, Phil built a legacy grounded in family values, faith, and business success. Not only did he found Duck Commander, but he also became a prominent voice in Christian media. He is survived by his wife, Kay, four sons, and many grandchildren.
