Taylor Swift Reclaims All Her Music

Taylor Swift now holds full ownership of her music collection, wrapping up a long-standing dispute that began years ago.
She shared the news on her website, stating that every song she has ever released is now hers. This comes after a struggle that began in 2019, when Scooter Braun took control of her master recordings through his purchase of Big Machine Records.
In response, Swift began re-recording her albums. These new editions—labeled “Taylor’s Version”—include hits like “Fearless,” “Red,” “Speak Now,” and “1989.” Each of them reached No. 1 on the charts.
Swift struck a deal with Shamrock Capital to buy back her original recordings. She wrote, “All of the music I’ve ever made now belongs to me.” She described the firm as “honest, fair, and respectful.”
Now, Swift owns not just her music, but also the rights to her videos, album images, and unreleased material. Her self-titled debut re-recording is complete. She said “less than a quarter of Reputation has been recorded,” but she’ll release it “when the time is right.”
Quick points:
- Full rights to music, images, and unreleased work
- Four re-recordings completed
- Bought masters from Shamrock Capital
- “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” still in progres
Her decision may motivate more artists to secure their own work.
