Shannon Sharpe Sexual Assault Lawsuit: $50M Claim Filed

Shannon Sharpe sexual assault lawsuit headlines emerged after the NFL legend and current ESPN personality was named in a civil suit filed in Nevada, accusing him of multiple acts of sexual assault, including rape. The woman behind the complaint, listed as Jane Doe, claims the abuse took place during what she calls a troubled, on-and-off relationship with Sharpe that spanned nearly two years.
The allegations come at a time when Sharpe remains a prominent figure in sports media. Best known for his time as a tight end with the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens, Sharpe has since gained attention through TV appearances and his podcast Club Shay Shay. Despite his success, serious accusations now challenge his public image.
Allegations Detail Control, Abuse, and Assault
According to court documents filed in early 2025, Jane Doe says she met Sharpe in 2023 at a Los Angeles gym when she was 22 years old. She claims he began pursuing her persistently before they entered what she describes as a “rocky consensual relationship.” However, Doe says Sharpe’s behavior turned aggressive and coercive, accusing him of attempting to dominate nearly every aspect of her life.
Key claims in the lawsuit include:
- Sharpe allegedly demanded control over her time and access to her body
- He reportedly pressured her to sign an NDA before they could meet, later dropping the demand
- She accuses Sharpe of secretly filming their intimate moments and sharing the recordings
- Doe alleges verbal threats and physical violence when she did not comply with his expectations
- In October 2024, she says he forcibly took her to her apartment, where he allegedly anally raped her
- A second assault reportedly took place in January 2025 during what was supposed to be a gift exchange
The complaint quotes a disturbing moment during the alleged October assault. “Sharpe grabbed her head, forcing her to look at him as she sobbed,” the lawsuit states. “He said at that point: ‘Look at this. Look at my arm. I’ve got chills. That’s how good this is.’”
Jane Doe also references a separate incident in September 2024 when Sharpe mistakenly livestreamed himself having sex with another woman. She says the public nature of that act left her deeply embarrassed and prompted her to begin distancing herself from him.
Sharpe Responds Through Attorney, Denies All Claims
Shannon Sharpe has not made a personal statement, but his legal team strongly denies the allegations. His attorney, Lanny Davis, calls the lawsuit a “shakedown attempt” and insists the relationship was entirely consensual. According to Davis, there is evidence that the plaintiff engaged in sexual conversations and role-play, which he believes undermines her claims.
“The evidence paints a clear picture: this was a consensual, adult relationship that included role-playing, sexual language, and fantasy scenarios,” Davis said in a public statement. “Mr. Sharpe categorically denies all allegations of coercion or misconduct — especially the gross lie of ‘rape.’”
He added that Sharpe “looks forward to vindication through due process and a judgment based on the facts and the law.”
Jane Doe is seeking $50 million in damages. She is represented by attorney Tony Buzbee, who has taken on several high-profile sexual misconduct cases, including those involving Sean “Diddy” Combs and Deshaun Watson.
“I’m extremely proud to represent Jane Doe,” Buzbee said in a statement. “It takes a great deal of courage to stand up against those with power, fame, and money.”
As of now, no criminal charges have been filed. The case remains a civil matter in the Nevada court system.
