Air India Flight Crashes After Takeoff in Gujarat, 242 Dead

An Air India jet heading to London crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad, killing all 242 people onboard on June 12. The aircraft struck a hostel at BJ Medical College, igniting a fire and causing widespread panic.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner departed Ahmedabad’s airport at 1:38 p.m. local time. Moments later, the pilots issued a distress call. Within minutes, the plane crashed near the medical college, prompting an immediate response from emergency crews. Despite their efforts, no one on board survived.

The crash killed 230 passengers and 12 crew members. The victims included nationals from India, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and Canada.
