Kanye West Talks Childhood Experience With Male Cousin
Kanye West, also known as Ye, is back in the headlines after sharing a very personal and disturbing story from his childhood, opening up about his childhood experience with his male cousin. The rapper, 47, made the revelation on X (formerly Twitter) while previewing a new song called “Cousins.”
In a series of posts, Kanye claimed he had a sexual relationship with his male cousin when they were both kids. He said it started after they found explicit magazines that belonged to his late mother, Donda West.
“This song is called COUSINS about my cousin that’s locked in jail for life for killing a pregnant lady a few years after I told him we wouldn’t ‘look at dirty magazines together’ anymore,” Kanye wrote. He added, “Perhaps in my self centered mess I felt it was my fault that I showed him those dirty magazines when he was 6 and then we acted out what we saw.”
The post shocked many fans, especially since it included a line where Kanye wrote, “My name is Ye and I sucked my cousins d–k till I was 14,” ending the statement with “Tweet sent.”
In the song’s lyrics, Kanye goes into more detail about what happened:
“Hanging with my cousin reading dirty magazines”
“We seen some n—as kiss, and we ain’t know what that s–t mean”
“Then we start reenacting everything that we had seen”
“That’s when I gave my cousin head”
“Told my cousin not to tell nobody”
He repeats that last line more than once in the track.
Kanye Claims Incestuous Relationship with Cousin
Kanye says he never felt attracted to men but felt he needed to tell the truth about what happened. “People tell me take it to my grave: ‘Truth will set you free someday.’ I don’t think they understand that I’m not attracted to a man,” he raps.
The music video that goes along with the song is just as unsettling. It includes clips of family home videos, scenes of violence, sexual images, and even a burning cross.
Kanye’s cousin, who is mentioned in the post and song, is reportedly serving a life sentence in prison. Kanye talked about this cousin back in 2018 during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, saying, “My cousin is locked up for murder, and I love him. He did a bad thing, but I still love him.”

Kim Kardashian, Kanye’s ex-wife and the mother of his four children, has also spoken about the cousin. In 2020, she mentioned him while talking about prison reform. “Kanye’s aunt, my husband’s aunt, his cousin has a double life sentence for a murder that he committed when he was 17,” she said.
It’s not clear why Kanye decided to share this story now. Some believe it’s tied to his music, while others see it as another example of him trying to speak his truth, no matter how difficult it may be to hear.
Kanye West has often used his platform to express thoughts on mental health, trauma, and family. But this revelation has raised deep concerns and sparked heavy discussion online. As of now, neither Kanye nor his team has released more details or responded to the backlash.
