Car Crashes Into Liverpool FC Parade, Dozens Injured
A car drove into a crowd during Liverpool FC’s Premier League victory parade on May 26. The crash happened on Water Street in Liverpool, just after 6 p.m., minutes after the parade had passed. The vehicle hit fans gathered along the street, injuring 47 people, including four children.
Police arrested the driver, a 53-year-old white British man from Liverpool, at the scene. Later, authorities confirmed there is no indication of a terrorist motive. Moreover, emergency services responded quickly. Four people trapped under the car were pulled out by firefighters.
Among those injured, 27 were taken to hospitals. Two of them, including a child, remain in serious condition. Liverpool FC paused all post-parade events. Following up on the incident, the club said in a statement that they are “deeply saddened by the incident and working closely with the police.”
