Fire Destroys Tomorrowland Main Stage Days Before Opening Weekend

A fire tore through the main stage at Tomorrowland in Boom, Belgium, just two days before the festival’s first weekend. The fire started on July 16 while crews were working onsite. No one was injured.
Reports suggest a fireworks test may have caused the fire. Around 1,000 workers left the area quickly and safely. Fire officials are treating the event as accidental arson and continue to investigate.
Despite the damage, festival organizers say Tomorrowland will still open on time. DreamVille camping begins July 17, and events in Brussels and Antwerp will continue. Crews are preparing alternative stages for artists to perform.
The main stage, built for this year’s “Orbyz” theme, was almost completely destroyed. Heavy smoke and small explosions were seen during the fire. Firefighters arrived quickly and kept the fire from spreading.
A festival official said, “We are doing everything to keep the festival going and make it safe for everyone.”
