Road Closures & Transit Disruptions

From early morning until late morning or early afternoon, expect widespread closures:

  • Embarcadero: Closed northbound (3rd–Broadway) and southbound (Broadway–Harrison), from 12:01 AM to 3:00 PM.
  • Jefferson St (Wharf): Closed between Powell & Hyde from 5 AM–10:30 AM.
  • Marina District: Bay St, Laguna St, Marina Blvd closed from 5–9 AM.
  • Golden Gate Bridge & Presidio: Bridge stays open to vehicles, but sidewalks open later (east at 9 AM, west at 10 AM). Vista Point parking closed 4–10 AM, plus Presidio no‑access zones from 4:30–10 AM.
  • Richmond & Sunset Districts: Cross‑street closures along 26th & 27th avenues (~6:15–9:45 AM).
  • Golden Gate Park: Park roads shut from 5–11 AM (JFK, Crossover, MLK, etc.).
  • Haight Street: Significant closures from 6:30–11:45 AM.
  • Market St: Closed 6:30 AM–noon .

The Great Highway (along Ocean Beach) is now a permanent pedestrian zone on weekends and holidays, though it’s part of last year’s half‑marathon course. For the July 27 marathon, the road closures pertain more to Embarcadero and park lanes.

  • Muni buses and streetcars will see delays and detours on numerous lines (N‑Judah, 5, 6, 7, 19, 22, 24, 27, 30, 38, etc.).
  • Plan to avoid driving downtown early Sunday, use Muni, BART, bike‑share, or rideshare.
If heading to Oracle Park (Giants), Pier 30/32 parking may open late (after noon), expect delays 9–11 AM.

Helpful Tips

  • Spectators: Best viewing near Embarcadero for start/finish, along Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park, and Wharf.
  • Runners & locals: Share the menu—expect slow streets! Leave early if heading through Blackpoint, Great Highway, or Park Presidio.
  • Transit users: Check Muni alerts or go car-free.

It’s a spectacular weekend—world‑class views, crowds cheering across the bridge, and that unbeatable SF vibe. Just plan around the closures, and you’re in for a blast. Good luck to everyone running, and be kind if you’re trying to navigate around!
