HBO Casts Harry, Hermione, and Ron for Upcoming Potter Series

HBO has revealed its leading trio for the new Harry Potter series. Dominic McLaughlin will star as Harry, with Arabella Stanton as Hermione and Alastair Stout as Ron. The network chose these actors after an extensive casting process that included thousands of young hopefuls.

According to the network, the show will stay true to the original books by J.K. Rowling. Each season will explore one book, starting with the first. Filming will start in 2025, and HBO plans to air the series in 2026.

Here’s the full cast lineup so far:

  • Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter
  • Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger
  • Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley
  • John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore
  • Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall
  • Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape
  • Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid
  • Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell
  • Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch

Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod, who are producing the series, said, “After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen.”

J.K. Rowling will also serve as an executive producer. HBO Max plans to make the series available in several countries, including the U.K., Germany, and Italy.
