Apple Brings Liquid Glass Design to iOS 26

Apple’s newest update, iOS 26, brings a fresh design called Liquid Glass. This new style shows up on iPhones and other Apple devices and was revealed at WWDC 2025. It adds shine and blur to menus, buttons, and apps, changing how everything looks. Apple says it’s the biggest design change in years.
Along with the new look, iOS 26 comes with Apple Intelligence, tools that use AI right on the device. These help with real-time translation, image-making, and understanding what’s on your screen. Most work without sending data to the cloud.
Messaging sees a big update too. You can now run polls, send money with Apple Cash, and use custom backgrounds. Genmoji lets you build new emoji. Phone features like Hold Assist and live transcripts are also part of the update.
Here’s what’s new:
- Liquid Glass design for all apps and menus
- Genmoji and ChatGPT image creation
- Live translation and smarter calling
- Messaging tools for polls and payments
- Only works on newer iPhones with A17 Pro or higher
Alan Dye, Apple’s human interface VP, called it, “the broadest software design update ever.” While the design is praised, some users worry about readability.
The update is in developer mode now, with a test version coming in July. The full release will happen in the fall. Siri’s major AI changes will come in 2026, not this year.
