Tony Awards 2025: Highlights and Winners

Radio City Music Hall hosted the 2025 Tony Awards on June 8, where Broadway’s finest took the stage. Cynthia Erivo led the evening.

“Maybe Happy Ending” emerged as the top musical, collecting six awards including Best Musical. Darren Criss, honored as Best Actor in a Musical, thanked his wife in an emotional moment: “The real hero about this for this remarkable journey is my wife, Mia, who took a massive swing on allowing me to do this… You’re the very pedestal that upholds the shiny spinny bit in our lives.”

Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ “Purpose” won Best Play. Kara Young took home Best Featured Actress in a Play, becoming the first Black performer to win the category two years in a row.

Nicole Scherzinger, who starred in “Sunset Boulevard,” was named Best Actress in a Musical. She said, “If there’s anyone who feels like they don’t belong or your time hasn’t come, don’t give up. Just keep on giving and giving, because the world needs your love and your light more than ever. This is a testament that love always wins.”

Sarah Snook won Best Actress in a Play for her solo performance in “The Picture of Dorian Gray.” Cole Escola won Best Actor in a Play for “Oh, Mary!” and became the first openly non-binary actor to win in that category.
