Israel began Operation Rising Lion against Iran on June 13, targeting strategic military and nuclear capabilites. The IDF flew over 200 fighter jets into Iranian airspace, attacking about 100 locations. Meanwhile, Mossad orchestrated sabotage operations on the ground using smuggled drones and explosives.

Iran confirmed the deaths of high-ranking officials, including Major General Hossein Salami, head of the IRGC; Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Iran’s military chief of staff; and Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force. They also reported the deaths of nuclear scientists Dr. Fereydoun Abbasi-Davani and Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi. According to Tehran’s emergency services, the strikes also killed 78 civilians and injured 329.

In response, Iran’s armed forces launched more than 100 drones at Israeli targets. Regional air defense systems intercepted most of the drones. Iran suspended ongoing nuclear talks and declared that it would respond forcefully.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio commented, “We are not involved in strikes against Iran. Our top priority is protecting American forces in the region. Iran should not target U.S. interests or personnel.”

An Iranian government spokesperson said, “The response to the Israeli attack will be harsh and decisive,” adding that military leadership was finalizing plans for further action.
