Man Injures 8 During Fire Attack in Boulder, CO

A Sunday event in Boulder, Colorado, turned violent when a man decided to attack a group with a makeshift flamethrower. Eight people were injured, including one critically. The suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, reportedly yelled “Free Palestine” as he sprayed flames across the crowd.
The attack took place at Pearl Street Mall, where people had gathered in support of Israeli hostages. The FBI is now treating the incident as domestic terrorism. Soliman, who is from Egypt and overstayed his U.S. visa, also used Molotov cocktails. Authorities arrested him on site.
Victims included a Holocaust survivor. Boulder Police Chief Maris Herold called the act “a targeted assault on peaceful individuals.” One eyewitness told The Sun, “There were people on the ground and a bunch of others running over with buckets and bottles and whatever they could carry water in.”
This incident has led to greater security at local Jewish events. It has also drawn strong responses from officials. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “This attack was aimed against peaceful people who wished to express their solidarity with the hostages held by Hamas, simply because they were Jews.”
