The 2025 Met Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrates the rich history of Black dandyism and its influence on fashion over the decades. The event aims to honor how Black tailoring has evolved from its origins to contemporary expressions, highlighting a fusion of elegance, identity, and cultural assertion.
Dress Code: Tailored for You
The dress code, “Tailored for You,” invites guests to interpret classic menswear through a personal lens. Expect to see tributes to everything from Savile Row influences to Harlem Renaissance swagger, all with a modern twist that highlights Black style’s evolution and innovation.
Co-Chairs and Honorary Chair
For the first time, the Met Gala co-chairs are all Black men: actor Colman Domingo, musician and Louis Vuitton menswear creative director Pharrell Williams, F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, and rapper A$AP Rocky. They will also be joined by honorary co-chair, NBA legend LeBron James, and long-running co-chair since 1995, Anna Wintour.
Host Committee
The host committee includes a diverse group of influential figures such as Simone Biles, Regina King, Usher, Janelle Monáe, Jeremy Pope, and Sha’Carri Richardson. Their involvement underscores the event’s commitment to celebrating Black excellence across various fields.
Exhibition Details
The accompanying exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” will be on view from May 10 to October 26, 2025. Curated by Monica L. Miller and Andrew Bolton, it will feature garments, artwork, and photographs exploring Black dandyism from the 18th century to today. The exhibit draws inspiration from Miller’s book “Slaves to Fashion” and is organized into 12 thematic sections such as Ownership, Presence, Heritage, and Cool.

Fans can watch the Met Gala livestream on Vogue’s platforms starting at 6 p.m. EST, with additional coverage from E! at the same time. The red carpet begins at 4:30 p.m. EST. Hosts include Teyana Taylor, La La Anthony, and Ego Nwodim, with Emma Chamberlain returning as the red carpet correspondent.
